Distribution is a royal pain in the, well you know. Advertising is the biggest pain, but distribution
can be as frustrating as trying to teach a cat to play the guitar. I've been scammed, courted and then scammed,
scammed some more...did I say I had been scammed? The usual scheme goes something like I discovered a couple
of years ago. I contacted a company in New Jersey (that should have tipped me off...) that, after viewing my
work, stated that they would be happy to act as my representative. They distributed to companies like
Blockbuster Video (now bankrupt) and Netflix as well as other venues, so I was pleased. But there was a problem.
The problem was the cover art. Some of you may have the original copies of Keeping the Watch with the "binocular'
cover. Well, I didn't see any problem with that one, but if the distributor wants a change, change it. So I redesigned
it. They rejected it. So, I redesigned it again. They rejected it again. So, I redesigned it yet again. They rejected it yet again.
Then they made a suggestion. They suggested that I use a friend's company (also in New jersey) to do the artwork.
The distributor said the company had a high level of expertise and pretty much guaranteed that they would accept
a redesign from them. So, I called. The "friend's" company wanted more than $1000 to do the cover.
Well, I rejected them both.
Anyway, I am still looking to put my films into wide distribution. So, if you aren't related to either of these guys in
New Jersey (or Snookie) give me a call. I am willing to work with any legitimate company or individual and pay
a fair share of the profits. Go to my CONTACT page for details.
